"Hard work, confidence, and dedication. With those three things, you will succeed."
Rocky Puri, owner of Bushnell Market, came to the United States from India and made his way to the midwest. His work ethic and family-focus was evident throughout our session at this family-owned grocery store. Rocky's wife Indu joined us during our time in the store, his nephew was taking care of customers, and we saw photos of the grocery store Rocky's son is opening soon on the other side of the state.
As we walked around the the store that has served the Bushnell community for decades, Rocky talked about the dedication it takes to run a business. He called our attention to the good deals, clean aisles, fully stocked shelves, and the weekly ad. He spoke of the relationships he develops in the small communities where his family owns grocery stores, and how they distinguish themselves in a competitive market.
Thank you to Rocky and Indu for sharing your life experience and valuable advice with these young entpreneurs!
