This week, we visited Bloom Macomb to learn firsthand about the realities of launching, operating, and evolving a local retail business.

After winning 2nd place in Macomb’s 2024 Small Business Competition, Anne Ingersoll was on a mission to make her business pitch a reality. For a town that once hosted many flower shops, she saw an opportunity to provide something different in a now-limited market.

Anne talked about her focus to provide high quality, locally sourced flowers and plants from her little shop. She also provides space for local artists to sell their floral & plant-themed creations.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything she does at Bloom Macomb. From reusing vintage vases and flower pots to repurposing rose stems, Anne has a mindset to reduce waste in this industry.

Anne is also serving as a CEO mentor this year, and challenged this team to think critically about problem-solving in business and to identify industries that offer lasting value in an evolving, tech-driven market. We are glad to have her in our corner!
